Instructions
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. 2. Add pasta and cook according to package directions, removing 1 minute early for al dente texture. 3. Drain the pasta and set aside. 4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. 5. Add sausage and cook for 5 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon until browned. 6. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds. 7. Mix in tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes to deepen flavor. 8. Pour in wine (or broth) and simmer 2–3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits. 9. Add chicken broth, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. 10. Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly reduced. 11. Stir in heavy cream and simmer another 3–4 minutes until thickened. 12. Add Parmesan, salt, and pepper to taste. 13. Toss in the cooked pasta and stir until coated. 14. Add a splash of pasta water if needed. 15. Garnish with fresh basil and extra Parmesan. 16. Serve warm.
